Easter Homework

I know you all want to relax this holiday BUT SATs is 4 weeks after the holidays and we can not allow brains to go to sleep so...
* Go on mathletics, complete the test challenge and try out any areas you know need improving
* Go on Spellodrome and get better at spelling
* Complete the Maths test paper I have given you
* Complete the two reading comprehension tasks I have given you
* Complete the two written tasks I have given you - these will be levelled!
* Complete some grammar activities in your grammar book - focus on things you find tricky, you don't have to do the whole book!
* Read, read, read!
We wil go through all of these after the holidays, if you space out the tasks then it won't seem like so much - take my advice - don't leave it until the night before we come back!

Maths Week 2013

This week the whole school has been celebrating Maths Week with World Maths Day on Wednesday 6th March.
We have taken part in lots of fun maths related activities.

Everyone in the school linked maths, literacy and art activities to the picture book, One is a snail, ten is a crab. Some of our activities involved making board games with our own challenge card questions; writing a counting book or number hunt game for sharing with Year 1 children and animal data handling.

We also had a problem solving workshop delivered by the Happy Puzzle Company where we had to work in teams to solve different puzzles. This tested our logic skills and challenged us to persevere when things got tough!

Shaking Up Shakespeare

Wednesday 27th February saw the coming of "The Scottish Play" to Edinburgh!
Year 5 & 6 had the delight of helping Anthony Glenn, a popular Shakespearian actor who visits schools, perform Shakespeare's Macbeth. Year 6 have been working on Macbeth as part of their literacy work this term.
